Caterina plays a key leadership r
ole as the Manager of the Raja Ampat SEA Centre Foundation, where she oversees all operational activities and leads the Raja Ampat Dive Guide School Program. As a certified PADI Instructor and Coral Catch alumna, she combines her teaching and coral restoration expertise to strengthen local capacity in marine conservation and sustainable tourism.
She leads with compassion and purpose, empowering local Papuans to pursue professional diving careers in one of the world’s most biodiverse marine ecosystems. Inspired by her own journey as a Blue Corner PADI Women’s Day Divemaster Scholarship and PADI Dive Professional Scholarship recipient, Caterina is committed to creating similar life-changing opportunities for others. Her leadership continues to shape Raja Ampat’s tourism landscape into one that is inclusive, sustainable, and community-driven.
Chusnul Firaqie
Community Engagement Officer
Chusnul is the Social Media and Community Engagement Officer at the SEA Centre, where she leads the SEA Centre 4 Kids programs for children of Papuans. Her work bridges educational gaps in neighbouring villages by equipping children with language and marine knowledge to engage in sustainable tourism and take pride in their ocean environment.
Beyond education, she manages the SEA Centre’s social media and storytelling initiatives, highlighting community voices and showcasing local conservation.
Herli Sauyai
Ranger – Dampier Strait Area III Marine Protected Area
Herli serves as a Ranger for the Dampier Strait MPA, where he plays a vital role in monitoring marine activities and protecting local reefs. His responsibilities include monitoring marine activities, reporting illegal fishing and irresponsible tourism practices, and coordinating with authorities to ensure effective protection of the area.
A proud graduate of the Raja Ampat Dive Guide School Program, Herli transformed his passion for the ocean into a lifelong commitment to conservation. Every patrol he undertakes reflects his dedication to preserving the beauty and biodiversity of Raja Ampat for future generations.
Mario Sawaki
Captain Ranger – Dampier Strait Area III Marine Protected Area
Mario is the Captain Ranger of the Dampier Strait Marine Protected Area, responsible for operating and maintaining the patrol boat used to protect Raja Ampat’s reefs. Working alongside the ranger team, he assists in patrol missions and helps ensure safe and effective monitoring of marine activities.
With his strong navigation skills and deep familiarity with local waters, Mario ensures every patrol mission runs safely and effectively. His steady work at sea reflects his dedication to safeguarding the marine environment he calls home.
Nomensen Mambraku
Captain – SEA Centre Operations
Nomensen serves as the captain for SEA Centre’s operational boat, supporting the team during coral restoration dives, research surveys, and community programs. He ensures all field activities at sea are carried out safely and efficiently, coordinating logistics and assisting both staff and volunteers.
With years of experience navigating Raja Ampat’s islands, Nomensen’s calm nature and commitment make him an essential part of every expedition. His quiet commitment helps the SEA Centre deliver its mission, connecting people to the ocean while protecting it.
